Who we are
Built by practitioners. Focused on outcomes.
An independent consulting firm built at the intersection of agronomy, field research, and commercial strategy — serving California’s high value specialty crop market.
The founding story
We didn't fill a gap. We built the bridge.
Unbound Ag was founded by two practitioners who came up working in California agriculture — not consulting about it from the outside. Between us, we’d spent careers advising growers on crop nutrition, managing field research programs, and helping input companies find their footing in one of the most competitive specialty crop markets in the world.
What we kept running into was the same problem from different angles: the people who understood the agronomy didn’t understand the market, the people who understood the market didn’t understand the agronomy, and the research sitting between them was rarely designed to connect the two. Growers were leaving yield on the table. Input manufacturers were spending money on data that didn’t move product. Everybody was working hard and the gaps were staying wide.
Unbound Ag exists to close those gaps — by bringing agronomic depth, research rigor, and commercial strategy together in a single practice, built specifically for California specialty crops.
How we see it
A different vantage point.
Most advisors in this space are specialists — a PCA who knows pests, a research firm that runs trials, a market consultant who knows distribution. Each sees one piece of the picture clearly and the rest dimly.
Unbound Ag was built at the overlap. Because we work across agronomy, research, and market development simultaneously, we carry context into every engagement that a specialist can’t. A grower advisory client benefits from our knowledge of what input manufacturers are bringing to market. A commercialization client benefits from our on-the-ground understanding of how growers actually respond to new products. Nothing we do exists in a silo.
That integration isn’t incidental — it’s the reason we exist.
